Sam Hird has signed a new one-year deal with Barrow, with a further one-year option.
Hird, 31, joined the Bluebirds in January from Alfreton Town.
He appeared over 150 times for Doncaster Rovers, scoring three goals. Chesterfield was his next stop, joining them in June 2012 and being immediately made captain. Hird went on to make nearly 250 appearances for the Spireites, striking up a partnership in central defence with Barrow boss Ian Evatt.
He won the 2015/16 Chesterfield Player of the Year but was released by the club in the summer of last year. He joined Alfreton in October 2018.
