Basford United travel to Market Drayton Town on Thursday (7.45) knowing three points will secure them the Evo Stik Northern Premier League Division One South title.
If nearest challengers Alvechurch drop points in their games this week that would also hand the title to Basford. The champions-elect enjoyed a successful evening at the league’s Player of the Year Awards at Barnsley on Sunday night, with leading scorer Liam Hearn being named as the Division’s Player of The Year.
Hearn was also named in the divisional team of the year alongside teammates Saul Deeney, formerly of Notts County and Derby County, and former Forest midfielder James Reid.
Chairman Chris Munroe commented:
“It’s a great honour for the club to have three players in the team of the year and i am delighted for the management and players who have worked so hard for this. It’s good to get the recognition from others in the league who appreciate what we have achieved at the club.”
