Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club Marine have announced the appointment of Neil Young as manager.
Young, 43, has an impressive football CV, with five promotions, including three consecutive league championships at Chester FC. He became the first manager of the newly-formed Chester FC in summer 2010.
He has also had spells as manager at Stockport County and Altrincham, and more recently was head of scouting at FC Halifax Town, with a spell also as caretaker manager until February 2018.
Marine chairman Paul Leary said: “This is a great appointment for Marine Football Club. Neil has a wealth of managerial experience and has been a very successful non-league manager, especially at Chester FC and previously at Colwyn Bay. These are really exciting times for all connected with Marine and I firmly believe that we are at the beginning of a new era for our club. I welcome Neil to the Marine Travel Arena and look forward to working with him and his staff in the seasons ahead.”
“I am very pleased that caretaker manager Ian Johnson, who has done so well in the last three games, is to be retained by Neil. Ian masterminded a superb FA Cup replay win away at Scarborough Athletic this week and deserves the opportunity to continue to work with the players and the new manager.”
Young said: “I’m really happy to be given the opportunity to manage Marine Football Club. There is great potential here and recent results, in particular Tuesday night’s win in the FA Cup at Scarborough show the players are determined to improve results and move up the table. I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
