Chesterfield have announced the signing of former Premier League striker Marc-Antoine Fortuné.
The French Guiana-born frontman, now 37 years old, has played his football for the last two years at Southend United. Fortuné is most known for his spells at Celtic and West Bromwich Albion.
The ex-Wigan Athletic and Coventry City man joins Chesterfield on a one-year contract as they look to bounce straight back into the EFL.
Spireites boss Allen said in his post on the club website: “I’ve been tracking him for a good few weeks and I thought he was signing for a team in the league above, but last night he called me and we got a deal done. He left London this morning at 6am and he was up here to sign at 8.30.”
