Left-back Sam McCallum, who most recently played for Herne Bay, has signed for Coventry City.
The 17-year-old joins the League One side on a three-year contract and will initially be part of the Under-23 set-up. McCallum was recently part of Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy along with defender Morgan Williams, who also recently joined Coventry (from Mickleover Sports).
It is the latest in what is becoming a long line of Coventry signings from non-league this summer, and the club’s Under-23 coach Jason Farndon told their official website:
“At the start of the season we highlighted the full-back area as an option we needed to strengthen and we are delighted to have brought in Sam. He was at the V9 Academy a few weeks back and he did well there and we are happy to have signed him to a three-year deal.
“Sam is an atheltic left-back and he’s an exciting project for us who we’re really going to push and help with his development. He is still only 17 and is eligible to play for the Under-18s as well.”
