Darlington have learned that striker Jamie Holmes will be ruled out because of injury for six months.
The former Newcastle player went off injured in the 1-1 home draw with Gateshead last week, and an examination by a specialist has found that he has suffered a cruciate ligament injury which will mean six months on the sidelines.
Manager Alun Armstrong said: “We’ve had the results from the specialist, and he’s ruptured his ACL, so he’ll be out for six months. I’m absolutely devastated for the lad and us as he is a very talented player.
“We’ve had some bad luck with injuries recently – first Luke Trotman and now Jamie.”
