Former Chelsea goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley has retired from playing, as confirmed by his current club Farnborough yesterday evening.
The 34-year-old was with Margate last season, working under his former Chelsea counterpart Steve Watt, before joining Farnborough.
The club said yesterday that Pidgeley, who also represented the likes of Millwall and Bradford City, informed them yesterday afternoon that he would be retiring with immediate effect.
Pidgeley said this on Twitter:
I’ve never talked about my depression in the last 10 years, a part too my close friends and family but after that club statement seems to be out the bag.
The messages of support already are much appreciated guys 😘
