Guiseley chairman Gary Douglas has issued a statement following crowd trouble in the club’s 1-1 draw at home to Stockport County on Saturday.

It reads as follows:

The Directors and myself as Chairman would like to apologise to our supporters and other visitors for the incidents caused by a minority of Stockport County fans at Saturday’s game at Nethermoor.

This sort of behaviour is not something we expect, or are used to, or indeed condone in any way and it goes against the grain of what we are as a family club.

We were not given any prior reason to believe that there would be trouble from the away fans. There was no intelligence passed on to us to prepare us for this and we apologise to everyone upset by the actions of these people.

We will be taking a close look at future security measures at Nethermoor in the light of yesterday’s events
