Cox’s assistant, the former Boston United manager Adam Murray, has also departed, along with first-team coach Ben Marvin. Guiseley last night slipped to a sixth successive defeat as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Gateshead.

Their last win was a 2-0 success over Chester FC on Boxing Day and the side are now five points adrift at the bottom of the Vanarama National League. The former Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger, who has been with the club of late, will oversee training for the time being.
