Guiseley have confirmed they have terminated the contract of striker Reece Thompson after he pleaded guilty in a domestic violence case.
The 25-year-old, who has also played for the likes of York City and North Ferriby United, pleaded guilty to damaging property, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court a week ago. He has been jailed for 40 months and received a ten-year restraining order.
Guiseley this afternoon released the following short statement:
The club is aware of the article today published in the Lincolnshire Echo regarding Reece Thompson.
Having now been made aware of the full details of the case, we can confirm that the player’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
