Insider Media say Harrogate Town AFC have submitted plans for a grass pitch at their Wetherby Road ground that will enable them to comply with Football League regulations if they secure promotion this season.

The club are currently seventh in the National League, and in the play-off places, after securing promotion from the National League North at the end of 2017/18.

Indigo Planning has submitted two planning applications to Harrogate Borough Council on behalf of the club for the proposed works, with designs prepared by Bowman Riley Architects.

Two options are being considered, with the new grass to either be laid on top of the existing artificial 3G pitch, or for the current surface to be removed completely.

English Football League regulations currently prohibit clubs from playing on artificial pitches.
