Bath City boss Gill hopes to harness Robins ties

It wasn't the start he hoped for on the pitch on Saturday against St Albans but new Bath City manager Jerry Gill is looking at the bigger picture. Quite literally against the Saints of Clarence Park.

Having taken over the reins of the Romans last week the new man in charge didn't actually pick the team for the trip to Hertfordshire. Instead assistant Jim Rollo continued as caretaker following former boss Gary Owers leaving for Torquay United.

Gill then watched his first match from an elevated position as he gets to grips with the National League South outfit for a wider perspective. Unfortunately Bath City succumbed 2-0 but Gill is excited about the challenge ahead.

"It's been really good - a bit of a whirlwind if I'm being honest. Coming in last Thursday was obviously very short notice for the weekend," explained Gill to the Bristol Post.

"I made the decision that [assistant manager] Jim Rollo would pick that team and he would take the team on Saturday and then I chose to watch from afar. I picked a video gantry tower at St Albans so I could get a really good picture of the players live and I learnt a lot from it," he said.
