Horsham say they are ‘sorry to announce the departure of full-back Joey Taylor, who has elected to join our divisional rivals Hythe Town.’
Taylor, who became the club’s first ever full international when appearing for Montserrat in a CONCACAF qualifying tie back in September, joined the Hornets in the summer and made a dozen starts but has since found it difficult to hold down a regular place in the side. His last start came at the end of November.
“It was difficult for Joey” admitted boss Dom Di Paola. “He’s a very good player but Harvey Sparks has been in terrific form so it’s hard for me to give him first-team football at the moment.
“I can understand his frustration, especially as he’s got another match for Montserrat coming up so he needs to be playing regular football. He’s joining Hythe and I wish him well there.”
In a text message to a club official, Taylor paid tribute to the supporters, adding: “Hopefully all goes well with the promotion push and the team can repay the fans for their unbelievable support.”
