Maidstone hope to complete a permanent move for Simon Walton before their trip to AFC Fylde, report Kent Online.

Walton’s one-month loan from Billericay is up after Saturday’s game and United are working on a deal for the experienced former Leeds man.

The 31-year-old has made a big impact in United’s back three and Maidstone want to keep him.

Boss Harry Wheeler said: “We’ll know by Saturday what’s happening. We need someone in that kind of mould and that character.

“We’d like it to be him but if it’s not it’ll be someone else.

“If he comes back, it’ll probably be permanent.”
