Jim Kellermann believes Aldershot Town ‘owe Macclesfield Town one’ as the National League top two prepare to face off at the EBB Stadium this weekend.

The teams go into the game with just one point separating league leaders Macclesfield from second-placed Aldershot after 32 games, although the north Hampshire team have a far superior goal difference. The Shots lost 2-0 at Macclesfield on September 30 and midfielder Kellermann believes the team owe both themselves and their supporters a far better performance in the reverse fixture this Saturday.

“It’s a massive game on Saturday,” the 23-year-old said. “We were talking about it on the coach [on the way back from Dagenham] and there’s something like 14 games left and we can’t believe it’s come around this quick.

“This next batch of games are really, really important. We have given ourselves a nice start by beating Leyton Orient and Dagenham & Redbridge but we have a lot of tough fixtures still to come, starting with Saturday’s game.

“But I think we owe them [Macclesfield] one after our performance up there.”
