Solihull Moors have signed former National League champion Terry Hawkridge on a deal until the end of the 2019/2020 season, subject to ratification.

The 28-year-old winger most recently played for League Two side Notts County, where he made 35 appearances and scored three goals after arriving in May 2017. Hawkridge was then an integral part of Danny Cowley’s Lincoln City who won the National League title in 2016/17. He scored four goals that season and netted a brace against Macclesfield to seal the title with two games to spare.

On his new challenge with the Moors, Hawkridge said: “I’m excited. The lads have been doing well and they’re up and around there. I’m excited and I can’t wait to get started.

“I met up with the gaffer and the staff – they were really keen to get me in. It’s about playing and enjoying football and I think this is a club where I can really do that.

“Hopefully I bring something different to what the club has and help the boys.”

Manager Tim Flowers had this to say on his latest addition: “He’s different to what we’ve got. We’ve obviously got a pool on front players and midfielders, but we haven’t really got what I’d describe as wide players.

“Terry is a very talented footballer – he can play anywhere across midfield and has done in the Football League. He plays mostly out wide, he can beat a man and deliver quality off both feet. We’ve got some big, powerful strikers who thrive on balls in the box – Terry will hopefully provide that.

“I know he’s delighted to be here and I saw lots of things in him which I know will be a massive positive for us between now and the end of the season. We’ve now got one or two that have won this division.

“This isn’t something that’s been random, we’ve gone with the experience and players who don’t crumble. Terry seems a real, solid citizen. He just wants to get involved and play – we’ve welcomed him with open arms and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Hawkridge will wear the number 24 shirt and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy second round tie at FC Halifax Town.
