Striker Dayle Southwell will remain a National League player having joined FC Halifax Town from Guiseley AFC.

Southwell, who was five months into a two-and-a-half year deal with The Lions, had expressed a desire to continue playing at a higher level following Guiseley’s relegation.

The former Wycombe Wanderers front man was one of former manager Paul Cox’s signings for Guiseley and he played 18 games scoring seven goals after joining the club in January.

The Grimsby-born player made one England C appearance after impressing for National North side Boston United by scoring 50 goals in 77 games.
