Gary Johnson enjoyed a sixth promotion of his distinguished managerial career as Torquay United clinched the Vanarama National League South title at the weekend.
The former Bristol City boss saw his Gulls side beat Eastbourne Borough 2-0 at Plainmoor in front of 4,538. Johnson sees it as a big checkpoint for the club, but only the beginning of where he wants them to go.
In quotes shared by Devon Live, Johnson said:
“This is what the vision was when I said I would take the job, and the vision has come to fruition. But you can’t say you are champs and then put a full-stop after it.
“Now we need to keep going and keep building. Build the stadium, build on our support and our team.
“That’s what I hope to do, and I know that’s what the club wants to do.”
