Akil Wright has hailed the impact of the midfield men who have helped Wrexham secure a play-off spot, The Leader say.

Bryan Hughes’ side are guaranteed a top-seven finish in the National League with three games to go despite the lack of a prolific striker, but the midfielders have chipped in with their share of goals.

When Wright bagged the opener in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Barnet he became joint top scorer with six goals, and his fellow midfielders are in close pursuit.

Brad Walker, currently out injured with a hamstring injury, has struck four times along with Luke Young, and Luke Summerfield has two goals.

Young and Summerfield have also weighed in with numerous assists and Wright, who won the National League player of the month award for August, feels the midfielders can be happy with their contributions.

“We have all chipped in with goals and it has been a good season for the midfielders,” said Wright.

“It terms of assists as well, Youngy and Summers have contributed a lot with them so we have had a good season in terms of getting on the scoresheet or creating goals.”
