Alfreton Town boss Billy Heath spoke with Amar Sharma (for the club’s website) ahead of the Reds’ opening league game of the season at home to Kidderminster Harriers.

He said:

“Pre season has gone really well, we’ve progressed well and I thought we were steady in the opening two, three games. We were okay in those as we were finding our feet, settling into how we want to play and the lads getting used to each other and getting the minutes and fitness.”

“The last three games I thought we were fantastic, we’ve shown amazing progression and we were particularly excellent against Burton and Chesterfield. The lads have really took to how we want to play, they’ve come together as a team far quicker than I expected.”

On signings:

“Lots been said about us when we brought in several players from the same place, Saturday’s starting 11 had only four players that had played together which was outstanding. We’ve made some outstanding signings, lots of experience, lots of quality. It’s a tight group and the dressing room is a really good place. I’m delighted with the squad and I know the fans are too.”

“There’s a great understanding between all the lads, we’re really pleased and every player is here because they want to be here. It’s all about the team, the players know what to expect from us and effort and desire is crucial and it’s the most important element for us.”
