Luke Young is looking forward to a fresh start in his football career at Wrexham and is delighted his family will be with him every step of the way.

The midfielder has penned a two-year deal at The Racecourse after turning down the offer of a new contract with Torquay, who he joined in the summer of 2014 from Plymouth Argyle, to become Reds’ boss Sam Ricketts’ first new signing. Regardless of the fact Torquay were relegated from the National League last season, the 25-year-old says it was time for a new challenge.

Young has no qualms about moving so far away from home for the first time and yesterday began looking for a house with his family.

“There would be a time in my career where I would have had to move on eventually and now the time is right,” said Young. “Wherever I moved, I was always going to be far from down south but that does not hinder me one bit.

“It is something I am really looking forward to for me football-wise and also my family too, they will be coming up with me. It is a new chapter, a fresh start football-wise and family-wise and I am really positive about the move.

“I can’t wait to get going. I have never moved away from my home town before and it excites me.”
