Experienced striker Adam Rooney is close to completing a move to Salford City, report The Scottish Sun.
The 30-year-old Irishman, who started out at Stoke City, has been with Aberdeen since 2014, but it looks like he could be set to join the rapidly-moving Vanarama National League newcomers Salford City.
The Ammies have seen several new arrivals this summer off the back of Graham Alexander’s appointment as manager, with the likes of Bristol Rovers striker Rory Gaffney and Fleetwood Town legend Nathan Pond among the incoming names.
The capture of Rooney would be seen as a coup for the Class of ’92-owned club, with the ex-Birmingham City man scoring almost 100 goals in his four years with the Dons. Just last month, manager Derek McInnes told the Evening Express:
“Adam has two years left here and has always been a very important player for me. He will continue to be an important player.
“Adam and I work closely together.”
