John Hewitson has now left his role as Hartlepool United’s Academy Manager to take up a new job outside of football.
Hewitson has been in charge of the club’s Academy since 2010 and has overseen the development of many young players, including the likes of Luke James, Brad Walker and Connor Simpson.
“Sadly, I have made the decision to leave the Club and the job that I love,” Hewitson explained. “The decision wasn’t easy but, with the ongoing instability and the uncertainty over the future of the Club I have decided to leave.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity that the Club gave me and for the seven and a half years I have worked here. As Academy Manager I have worked very hard to develop and improve the system and the Club has seen the benefits of that through Youth Team players progressing to the First Team or by revenue coming in from the sales of players who have come through the system.
“I have worked with some terrific people over the years and I will always look back at my time with fondness.”
