AFC Fylde have signed former Fleetwood Town right-back Tyler Forbes.
Forbes, 23, began his youth career at Preston North End, before joining Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2014 following his release. He attracted the attention of plenty of clubs, and at the end of the 2015/16 season, he joined Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, signing for two years and linking up with their Development Squad.
A short loan spell in the 2017-18 season to Accrington Stanley came before Forbes made a permanent switch to Newport County last season, where he made 20 appearances over the course of the season.
As a player who begun as a right-winger, it’s no surprise Forbes likes to get forward and support the attack – something manager Dave Challinor is keen to make the most of.
“Tyler has played as a right-back in both League One and League Two so has great pedigree,” said Challinor. “He’s got great experience for his age, but now, for him, it’s about kickstarting his career.”
“He’ll be a real attacking threat for us, and ultimately we want him to bomb up and down, and create chances.”
