Boss Gavin Cowan has revealed his AFC Telford United ‘senior leadership team’ for the upcoming season.

Centre-half Shane Sutton – who was skipper under Rob Edwards – will serve as the team captain. Midfielder Ellis Deeney has been named as vice-captain and Theo Streete, having arrived from Brackley Town earlier this summer, the club captain.

The ‘old school’ approach was used during Cowan’s time as a player with the Bucks, under Rob Smith and Larry Chambers.

“I’m going a little bit old school, to be honest, in terms of the captaincy and how that works,” said Cowan.

“One of the successful things we had when I played here a few years ago was that we had a captain, a vice captain and then a club captain.

“They were the senior leadership team if you like.

“As it stands at the moment, if he’s selected Shane will be the team captain, Ellis the vice captain and Theo is going to be the club captain.”
