AFC Telford United have announced the signing of Jud Ellis from Market Drayton Town.
The local 23-year-old has been part of the Bucks squad since pre-season and has impressed the management team enough to earn himself a deal at the club for the 2018/19 season.
Ellis started at Shrewsbury Town and remained in their academy until the age of 16 before being released where he then joined Kidderminster Harriers for two years on their education programme. He also had spells at Stafford Rangers & Ellesmere Rangers before making the step up to Market Drayton where he has played a huge role in their side for several season.
Manager Gavin Cowan said: “Jud is a player who was recommended to us from a trusted colleague who was adamant we needed to give the lad an opportunity. Jud has played well below his capabilities over the last few seasons and has somehow slipped through the net. I believe has the mentality, belief, and ability to push for a place in our team and its something he fully deserves following pre-season. He’s local and that’s important to me as he has the attachment already, so I look forward to seeing him take his opportunity.”
Ellis was thrilled with the opportunity to move to such a “big club”:
“I am delighted to join such a massive club as Telford, it’s my local club and one that I have always had an affection with. I would like to thank Gav & all the staff for the opportunity and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
