Rob Edwards has issued a rallying cry to AFC Telford United fans ahead of tonight’s match against Spennymoor Town, declaring: “Their support is huge.”

Edwards’ side are third bottom in National League North going into the New Bucks Head clash but a win would lift them out of the drop zone. Under-19s can go for free, while adults will both be charged £9, and the Bucks chief said: “Their support is huge.

“There is a lot of talk about fans at West Ham not being happy, but they really got behind the team at the weekend and they managed to beat Southampton 3-0 (in the Premier League). Having that 12th man right behind you, whether you’re at the top or the wrong end of the table as we are, is massive.

“We want to get as many fans in as possible, but we also know it’s up to us to get them going. We know it’s tough for them as it’s been a difficult few years for the club.

“The onus is on the players to give them something to shout about, and hopefully they will really get the crowd going.”
