Shrewsbury Town man Ryan Barnett’s loan spell at AFC Telford has been extended and he will be staying at the New Bucks Head until mid-March.

He made his first start for The Bucks in the 3-1 defeat away to Altrincham last Saturday but has made four appearances from the bench in the last month.

Town manager Sam Ricketts is hoping the extension to the loan will allow ‘Barney’ to gain more important first team matches.

“Barney is a really exciting young player and where we are at with him, and the other young players, is we want them out playing first team football,” said Ricketts.

“It is an opportunity for him to do so at AFC Telford and that is why we have extended the loan.

“Hopefully he will get a good number of games and that will help his development.

“He is a good player with a good future ahead of him if he continues to work hard and continues to improve.”
