Boss Gavin Cowan believes vice skipper Ellis Deeney could do a stellar job in any position for AFC Telford United, report the Shropshire Star.

Twenty-six-year-old Deeney usually plays in central midfield but impressed at left-back at the weekend.

“Ellis is just someone who can play anywhere,” said Cowan. “You could put him anywhere on the pitch – he’s got the attributes to do so.

Deeney was signed from Tamworth on an 18-month deal in January.

He is the younger brother of Watford striker Troy Deeney and was a left-back in his youth days at Aston Villa, before enjoying spells at Worcester City and Tamworth as a midfielder.

Deeney is one of a few players the Bucks have that are capable of playing in different positions.
