Weymouth winger Lionel Ainsworth admitted he is keen to earn an extension to his stay at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Ainsworth, 31, joined the Terras in late August having played previously for Watford, Motherwell and Plymouth Argyle.
In an earlier interview, Weymouth boss Mark Molesley revealed he was unsure whether Ainsworth would stay “short-term or long-term”.
But Ainsworth, who is yet to score or assist in four games, is focused on delivering on the pitch to maximise his time with the Terras.
He told Echosport: “There was a bit of interest, my agent got hold of them and they saw my name and thought ‘no chance, we’re not going to get him’ and just disregarded it.
“Then they saw I still hadn’t signed for anyone, they spoke to my agent and said would I be interested?
“I said ‘sure, why not? I’m interested’. I’ve signed a deal and we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully I can extend it, push it on or go from there – we’ll have to see what the manager’s plans are.”
