Aldershot Town could be without a second-choice goalkeeper for several games after on-loan Hull City youngster Will Mannion picked up an injury in last week’s win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 20-year-old, who came through the academy at AFC Wimbledon before being snapped up by Hull, is expected to be out for a number of weeks with a quad strain. That leaves the Shots with just the experienced Jake Cole as a recognised senior keeper at the club, meaning they did not have a shot stopper on the bench for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Harrogate Town.

And manager Gary Waddock admits it is unlikely the north Hampshire club will be able to bring someone else in due to their tight budget.

“We can’t bring three keepers in. We have one on loan and one permanent and we can’t bring another one in because the finances dictate that.”
