Aldershot assistant manager James Rowe is a contender for the vacant manager’s job at Chesterfield, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Chesterfield are searching for a new manager after they parted company with Jack Lester earlier this week, after just seven months in charge of the League Two club. Lester was sacked on Monday along with all his coaching staff with the club on brink of relegation from the Football League, and their demotion to the National League was confirmed on Tuesday when Morecambe drew at home against Cambridge.
Lester won just nine of his 37 games in charge and the club are planning ahead for next season as they look to bring in a manager to lead them back to the Football League. Rowe, who is assistant manager to Gary Waddock at Aldershot, has emerged on Chesterfield’s radar after impressing in his role with the Shots.
