Chairman Shahid Azeem has confirmed the Aldershot Town board will seek further talks with the club’s supporters’ trust after their decision to relinquish their seat on the board, report Surrey Live.

In a statement on October 15, the Shots Trust announced their decision to step back from the north Hampshire club’s board of directors and questioned the way the club was being run. Aldershot chairman Azeem admitted the Trust’s announcement came as a surprise to him at the time but he hopes to sit down with their representatives to discuss plans moving forward.

“As I have already commented and I will stick with that comment, it was out of the blue and wasn’t expected,” Azeem said.

“It was their decision, which we respect, and we have since asked for a meeting to make clear what their role is and basically understand what they want to do and where they want to go.”
