Alfreton Town assistant manager Russ O’Neill had praise for the Reds after seeing them record a highly creditable and deserved league double over high-flying Harrogate Town.

“I think we thoroughly deserved the three points. I thought we were excellent from start
alfreton townto finish in all honesty and I thought we always had the upper hand.

“But when the first goal doesn’t come as it hasn’t (in recent weeks) and when we have had results go against us it makes you susceptible. “We conceded a silly goal against the run of play. We got back in it to get back to 1-1 and over the 90 minutes I thought we fully deserved the win.

“Every game is different and today was always going to be a tough one. We made a few changes that we thought might suit the personnel and the game we were going to play.

“You look at that (how we played) today and we looked like a proper team. We looked powerful, we looked quick, we looked aggressive and we looked like we could play a bit as well.

“The second goal for them was again against the run of play and if they had not got that it looked like we could go on and get four or five but it wasn’t to be and we hung on well in the end. We are over the moon with the result.”
