Alfreton Town boss John McDermott has spoken about the challenge his side faces ahead of their match against Leamington

McDermott believes his side face a tough opponent in Leamington after they gained their second win of the season at the weekend.

Alfreton may be nine places ahead of their opponent but it is just a four point gap.

Speaking to the club’s website McDermott said.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league and it’s all about applying yourself. Leamington will be a good team, no side in this league is a bad team. I’ve seen them during pre season and they’ve got players that can hurt us.”

He added: “We have to be on it, it will be a tricky game on their turf and until we get into the top half we can be a threat and teams will fear us, but while we are still mid table, bottom sides can see it as a winnable match. We said after the game against Nuneaton where do we want to be, if we want to be higher then we needed to have come here and do more but our aim as it always is to win and we move onto Leamington now.”

Alfreton are now just two points off the play-off places but only three off the relegation zone.
