Alfreton Town have signed forward Craig Hobson.

Hobson, most recently at Ashton United, joins the Reds for the rest of the 2018/19 campaign. He has had spells at Stalybridge Celtic and Stockport County in 2012, where he made 26 appearances for the Hatters, scoring six times.

A brief spell at Guiseley followed in 2014 before making the move to Chester, where Hobson remained until 2016 and the expiry of his contract. Hobson scored 14 times in 82 games in all competitions for Chester.

Further spells at Altrincham and Aberystwyth Town came in 2017 before Hobson moved to Ashton United ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. He has featured throughout the Robins start to the National League North season.

Manager Billy Heath said: “Craig is an experienced striker who has been at a wide variety of clubs all at a high level, he is a good age for the role we have and he gives us a focal point and excellent competition for places.

“Craig comes in to strengthen our forward line and he is a great character to have at the club, he’s the right kind of player for us; he works hard and will fit straight into the group. He is an honest individual who will work hard and strengthen our attack. We are delighted to have him with us.”
