After Chesterfield’s 1-1 draw at home to Bromley on Tuesday, Martin Allen stated that he was disappointed with the result and his side’s performance on the night.
“I thought it was a poor performance. After some good performances away from home, where we’ve played with courage and determination,” said Allen.
“All the traits you want in a good team. We’ve looked well organised and disciplined, we’ve started to look like a good team.
“Tonight I thought it was the opposite. We were poor from the first minute right through till around 20 minutes to go.
“I think it was a particularly disappointing night for us.”
Allen then went onto pinpoint what was lacking from Chesterfield’s performance, by saying: “We looked nervy, we looked rushed in possession, we were second to the ball.
“All the good things we’ve been doing away from home, battling and competing.
“We’ve played some good football away from home, on the grass and fast football.
“I put it down to nerves and worry. Same as the supporters, the players are on edge.
“I urged them tonight to put in a good performance for themselves, for the supporters, to take us into a great weekend, but we never got it.”
