York City have announced the signing of Tranmere Rovers playmaker Louis Almond on a one-year deal.
Almond will be a familiar face to City fans, having scored two wonder-goals in front of the David Longhurst Stand while on loan at Southport in March, where the Minstermen came out on top in a 5-3 thriller.
Blackburn-born Almond started his career at Blackpool, before taking in several loan spells at Hyde, Barrow and Lincoln City before signing permanent terms at Southport in 2015.
One season with the Sandgrounders led to a move to Prenton Park at the start of last season, before going back to Haig Avenue for the second part of the campaign.
The Minstermen have also completed the signing of young midfielder Theo Wharton on a one-year deal.
The former Cardiff City and Wales U21 midfielder, 22, also has experience of sixth tier football with a short spell at Weston-Super-Mare in the National League South last season.
The Welsh-born box-to-box midfielder has also been capped at international level by Saint Kitts and Nevis.
