EBAC Northern League Division Two club Alnwick Town have announced the signing of Spanish forward Samuel Pérez, brother of Newcastle United star Ayoze Pérez.
The move is subject to international clearance being received by the Football Association.
Perez had been playing for Scottish Football League club Berwick Rangers.
The Wick’s Manager Richie Mitchell revealed his delight at getting the former Blyth Spartans and Team Northumbria player into his squad.
He said “I’m delighted to get Samuel on board, and it shows the ambitions of the club as we look to qualify for the F.A Cup next season.”
Tthe move sparks an interesting coincidence, with the Perez brothers both now plying their trade in black and white stripes at a ground called St James Park.
After signing for Alnwick Perez said “I’m looking forward to playing games until the end of the season. At this time it is difficult to find a club at a high level but the most important thing for me is to play football and to be on the pitch. I am very excited to get my debut with Alnwick.
I want to keep fit and keep playing because Sammy Pérez never gives up! I am working hard to get to my aim.’
Perez could make his debut in Alnwick Town’s EBAC Northern League Division Two fixture at Easington Colliery on Saturday, with his St James Park debut likely to come against promotion chasing Billingham Synthonia next weekend.
