Altrincham have been leaning on ‘the very best in the business’ in a bid to address the pitch issues at The J. Davidson Stadium.

Speaking ahead of this week’s National League match with Wrexham, which was shifted to FC United’s Broadhurst Park to ensure it could take place, Alty chairman Bill Waterson said:

“We have had any number of experts in to look at the best way forward for the playing surface at The J. Davidson Stadium.  And by experts, we mean the very best in the business.

“We believe we have a way forward, which will see a six-figure investment in the pitch over the summer, including replacing all the under-pitch drains and making significant improvements to the off-pitch situation as well.

“This is the biggest investment we have ever made in the playing surface, and we are investing more this summer than we have in the previous seven years combined. We want to make sure that we are giving Phil (Parkinson) and the boys the very best playing surface possible as we continue to move forward in our five-year plan.”
