Altrincham boss Phil Parkinson has made a significant breakthrough in the transfer market after snapping up experienced keeper Steven Drench from Bradford (Park Avenue).

Drench, a well-known figure to Altrincham fans, has long been renowned as one of non-League football’s most accomplished shot-stoppers, and has signed forms at The J.Davidson Stadium, ahead of meeting his new team-mates and training with them in preparation for the Robins’ next Vanarama National League North fixture, away to FC United of Manchester a week next Saturday.

Drench has spent the bulk of a distinguished career across the Pennines in Yorkshire but is Manchester-born and should slot seamlessly into Alty’s promotion-chasing squad after building an enviable reputation for commanding his area and making exceptional saves.
