Altrincham will be without the services of Nathan Waterston for the remainder of the campaign at least, as the Barrow loanee suffered a season-ending injury.

The 21-year-old forward sustained a torn MCL and ACL in last Saturday’s game at FC United, meaning Phil Parkinson’s Alty are forced to continue their National League North promotion bid without him.

Waterston tweeted this afternoon:

Due to the incident from Saturdays game I’m devastated to find out I’ve torn my MCL and ACL which will rule me out for the rest of the season. I’m determined to keep positive and thank you for the messages I’ve had already

A massive thank you to the fans, players and staff of @altrinchamfc for the past couple of weeks I enjoyed being part of your club, although my time there has been cut short. I wish you the very best of luck in your push for promotion that you deserve
