Tonbridge Angels are mourning the passing of Life Vice President and former Vice Chairman and Director of the club, Maurice Brown in Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
A statement on the club’s website read “Maurice had not been in particularly good health for a while but he was never one to complain and indeed was often seen at Longmead until very recently supporting his beloved Angels.
Maurice was typical of the kind of director that over time has ensured the long term survival of Tonbridge Angels.
Not for him the prestige of the position but rather a desire to work incredibly hard for the club in everything he turned his hand to. He was quite simply a supporter who was prepared to use his skills, genorisity and talents for the lasting benefit of the club he was so passionate about.
He was instrumental in creating the foundations of the existing Tonbridge Board including current Chairman, Steve Churcher in 2009 when Nick Sullivan and Garry Pass resigned.
On a more personal level he will be remembered for his unique sense of humour which helped at challenging moments and also for his wonderful generosity.
Our thoughts at this time are very much with Maurice’s wife Linda, who of course herself works so hard for the club, his daughter Jo, and all of the Brown family.
Details of Maurice’s funeral will be announced in due course”
