Armthorpe Welfare have announced that Tony Wigfull is the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club’s new assistant manager.
A club spokesperson said: “Tony began work a couple of weeks ago and is working hard alongside manager Brian Johnston to get the squad ready for the new season.”
Wigfull began his career at Chesterfield before going on to spend eighteen years in the semi-professional game representing clubs at Northern Counties East League, Northern Premier League and Football Conference levels.
He has been an U19 and U21 coach in the professional game for twenty years and has most recently spent thirteen years as a national academy scout at Sheffield United.
Welfare begin their 2016/17 season with an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie at home to fellow Premier Division side Handsworth Parramore on Saturday.
