Nathan Arnold has agreed to join Boston United on an initial one-year deal in a dual playing and coaching role, while defender Ben Middleton has become the Pilgrims’ second summer signing.
Arnold left neighbours Lincoln City on Friday after a successful spell with the Red Imps, which included promotion from the National League and a run to the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup in 2016-2017. He also won promotion from the National League with Grimsby Town a year earlier.
Reflecting on Arnold’s arrival, Elliott said: “Persuading Nathan to join us is a real coup for the football club given the other offers he had, but his enthusiasm to join Boston United was evident. Nathan will play a key role on and off the pitch for us and I have offered him the opportunity to become an integral part of my management staff.
“We have had good discussions and I am looking forward to working closely with him. It is an exciting move all-round and kicks off our summer recruitment in style.”
Middleton has put pen-to-paper on an initial one-year contract. The 23-year-old, who spent two successful loan spells with the Pilgrims in 2017-2018, will now be playing his football at The Jakemans Stadium on a permanent basis after leaving promotion final winners Harrogate Town.
