The joint management team of Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty celebrated their 250th game in charge of Ascot United with a victory on Tuesday.
Ascot United’s chairman Mike Harrison comments. “It hasn’t all been a bed of roses, football never is, but Jeff and Paul have led us to some great times, the FA Vase quarter Finals at Shildon and St Austell, winning the Bluefin League Cup, finishing in third place in the uhlsport Hellenic League for the last two seasons, the ups and downs of that never to be forgotten night when we played our first FA Cup match against Wembley, the list goes on and on.”
“Jeff (left in image) and Paul (right) have achieved the milestone of 250 games in charge when in some clubs 25 matches in charge is nearer the norm!! Its not an easy job but its one they thrown themselves into week in and week out. They have done a great job and long may it continue. Thanks guys.”
Also recognised as doing a great job at Ascot is groundsman Tony King, who has been awarded the “Best Groundsman” mantle in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division for season 2014/15. Tony also looks after the 5 and 7 aside pitches which at the Racecourse which are amongst the best playing surfaces in the area.
