John Askey has hinted that he may make a few changes to the Macclesfield Town squad on Tuesday ahead of the club’s FA Trophy away tie at Altrincham.

After playing on Saturday against Bromley at the Moss Rose, the players are now focusing on another cup competition, and, speaking after the 2-1 loss to Bromley, Askey is hoping to make a couple of alterations.

“It gives some of the other lads a chance of getting in the starting line-up, Richard Brodie and Richie Wellens came on against Bromley so we can shake it up a little bit, but our main aim is to progress in the competition”.

Macclesfield have been in good form against their local rivals over recent seasons, something which gives Askey a confidence boost going into tomorrow night’s game.

“It’s always tough when you go to Altrincham, the pitch will be heavy but it’s a game where if we play like we can then we should win”.

As for some of the less experienced players in the squad, Askey admits he is hopeful of including some of the fringe players in the starting XI against Altrincham.

“I think one or two of the lads need a breather, especially some of the older players, so we’ll see what everyone’s like during training and see who can play and who can’t.

“We’d like to change it up a bit but we’ve only got 18 players in the squad so it’s not the easiest, but the ones we know who need a rest we’ll try and give them a breather”.
