Boss John Askey is still hopeful that Macclesfield Town might be able to extend Scott Flinders’ loan deal at the Moss Rose.

Flinders, who was ineligible for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at North Ferriby has featured on five occasions for the Silkmen during his loan, helping Macclesfield to three wins, and a draw.

Flinders’ loan deal officially ends today and John is hopeful that he could remain at the Moss.

He told mtfc.co.uk: “At the minute we haven’t got the money to extend Scott’s loan deal, which is obviously a big blow.

“But we have had so many people generously help us out already this season and that is why we are where we are at the minute and hopefully that will continue. “
