John Askey is still setting high aims as his Macclesfield Town side go into the final stages of the National League season.

Speaking after the recent 0-0 draw away at Boreham Wood, Askey felt that his team will need to be prepared to work harder if they want to put a run together.

Askey told Silkmen Player HD: “My aim is still to win all of our remaining games, if you do that then you never know what could happen. I’ve been in teams where we’ve gone on a run of ten wins in a row, so it’s not beyond this team, but if you’re not prepared to put in the hard work then you’re not going to win anything.”

Macc will have a chance to start stringing those wins together when they travel to Gateshead this Friday, and Askey is confident that his players will be up for the challenge against one of the high flying teams in the division.

“Gateshead are right up there and it will be a tougher game than Boreham Wood, if we play like we did against them then we will get turned over, but I’m the sure the players are aware of that. We tend to do better against the supposedly bigger clubs in this league so we will wait and see.”
