Macclesfield Town manager John Askey was pleased with his side’s victory against North Ferriby United on Saturday.
The Silkmen came away victorious from Moss Rose with a 1-0 win courtesy of Danny Whitaker’s first-half penalty.
In a game which was full of drama, Macc managed to hold on to a good three points despite playing majority of the game with ten men as John McCombe saw red early on.
“Obviously it was very difficult when John went off. The players worked their socks off again and we probably had the most chances. It’s really pleasing to see the amount of effort shown by the players. But we struggled up to that point.
With many debatable topics, the gaffer admitted that the referee had several difficult decisions to make.
“I’ll have another look on the video, even our penalty was debatable but you have to overcome these things and we did.”
Askey told mtfc.co.uk that there could have been many more goals at the Rose with Macclesfield having the pick of the chances.
“We were unlucky with a few chances, on any other day we could have had two or three more but it’s all about winning and everybody is happy.”
